Vitalik Buterin donates $227k to help earthquake victims in Turkey

The Ethereum co-founder has sent around $227,000 in ETH to two Turkish earthquake relief organizations.

Vitalik Butlin, founder of Etherum, has now made at least two practical contributions to assist the victims of last week's devastating earthquake in Turkey and Yemen.

The Turkey-Yemen 7.8 earthquake occurred on February 6. At this stage, the death toll has risen to more than 330,000, which is one of the worst earthquake disasters in the world in decades.

Over the past week, the founder of Etherum has been actively donating Etherum to support Turkey's rescue efforts. According to blockchain security firm PeckShield, his most recent donation was on Feb. 12, when he donated 50 ETH, or $77000, to Anka Relief.

Anka thanked the founder of Etay Fong for his generosity and said the encrypted donation had been liquid since day one.

From the first day of the disaster, people saw that the wallets of many key social organizations were stuffed with donations. Very good, has deeply attracted more assets, and will attract more assets.

Anka brought a detailed list of encrypted wallets suitable for donation. The Web3 Rescue Application Agency also led the organization to launch a new Ukrainian national DAO project to raise encrypted donations to support the persistent efforts of the besieged country.

The latest donation is another 99 ETH donated by Vitalik to support people affected by the earthquake. On February 11th, vitalik.eth donated approximately US $150000 worth of ETH to Ahbap, a non-governmental organization and a non-profit organization focused on Turkish relief work.

Ahbap brings a lot of login password details to the various OTP it can accept.

So far, it claims to have received $4.3 million in encrypted donations, of which stablecoins is the most popular token. According to Ethercan, the Ahbap wallet contains 409 ETH, which is worth $622000 at the time of writing.

Late last week, the Financial Times in London reported that encrypted donations had been pouring in from around the world. More than $10 million in login passwords have been sent, and Binance alone has donated $5 million to support Turkey's relief efforts.

Binance also announced last week that it would give $100 worth of BNB airdrops to people in hard-hit areas.

On February 7th, the day after the devastating earthquake, Cointelegraph reported on how the Web3 community came together to arrange encrypted donations for social organization and support.

This is not the first time the login password has been used to donate money for earthquake relief. In 2015, after the massive earthquake in Nepal, BTC donated money to relief agencies.
